Important, do not forget next Saturday (14th May) is the Wilbinga Clean Up Day! All are welcome to come along and help out, it doesn’t matter if you’re a group of mates, an individual or a club, we need volunteers on the day!
This is a Parks & Wildlife (DBCA) event, run with the assistance of The Wilbinga Shacks Crew (the official adoptee’s of Wilbinga Conservation Park). By volunteering a few hours of your time next Saturday morning you will help keep Wilbinga open for all of us to enjoy as a recreation area. DBCA as usual will put on a sausage sizzle for the volunteers back at the shacks at lunchtime on the day to say thanks. Please enter the Conservation Park by either Wilbinga Road just off IOD (southern entry) or Wilbinga Grove on IOD (northern entry). Just look for us near the information signs at either entry point. Please ensure you sign on to the Volunteer PWS208 Form in the morning so that your volunteer hours are recorded (this helps with Govt funding for projects that maintain the area) and also means you are covered by DBCA’s public liability insurance. If you haven’t done any DBCA volunteering previously you will need to also fill in a PWS205 Form (this is a once off)! Don’t stress, both these forms are quick & easy to fill in and we are more than happy to help you out with them.
On the day keep an eye out for the Light Blue (Scouts Recycling) Bins that we will have as part of the Containers for Change Scheme, apart from diverting collected recyclable drink containers from landfill, ALL funds raised will go to the Shacks Crew for direct funding of projects within the Conservation Park that will benefit all users and not just end up as consolidated revenue with some Dept or group. Please support this as every 10¢ adds up! For all other rubbish DBCA will position one of their trucks at the western end of Wilbinga Rd for you to leave all your collected litter that is going to landfill as you exit after lunch . If the truck is full please stack rubbish next to it on the ground and DBCA will collect this later on with a Bobcat. If you have any other queries please feel free to ask on the morning.
I will be up at Wilbinga Grove from 8AM (probably looking disheveled as driving home from Murchison Stn the night before) along with some mates from All Tracks 4WD Club (orange & black shirts) and likewise the Wilbinga Shacks Crew (light blue shirts) will be manning the eastern end of Wilbinga Road around 8AM.
We look forward to meeting as many of you on the day as this is a great community event that benefits all users of Wilbinga and does help foster a positive look for our 4WD community.
